Rice production in the country increased by more than 29 percent in 2024

The Venezuelan Federation of Rice Producers Associations indicated that in 2024 the number of hectares planted with this cereal increased by 29.47% compared to 2023.

In this regard, José Luis Pérez, president of the union, reported that rice production in the country went from 95,000 hectares in 2023 to 123,000 hectares in 2024.

According to a note published by the newspaper Último Noticias, Pérez explained that last year “domestic producers planted 123,000 hectares of rice in the country, of which 63,000 hectares were planted in the winter cycle and 60,000 in the summer cycle, which evidenced a great advance compared to last year.”

According to the union organization, in 2024, rice production in Venezuela managed to supply 68% of the domestic market.
