Japanese architect Riken Yamamoto emphasized that the trust and organization demonstrated by Venezuelan communities constitute an example of success in social transformation.

“If you are successful in this great transformation that you are carrying out at the neighborhood level, this will be a model for the world,” Yamamoto said during a meeting with the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, from the Cultural House.

He stressed that the experience of neighborhoods in Venezuela demonstrates how such a model can be consolidated and projected internationally.

“Seeing this, I have felt an impetus to want to collaborate with neighborhoods so that they have greater well-being,” he said.

The architect compared this experience with the situation in Indonesia, where attempts are being made to build a new capital and reorganize large neighborhoods under difficult conditions. He indicated that similar examples are repeated in several regions, confirming the need for a national development model based on community empowerment.

Yamamoto said that the path traveled by Venezuela, backed by the strength of its communities, can become a guide for other countries that seek alternatives for social and urban organization.
