On July 29, 1936, one of the media that today is consolidated at the forefront of Venezuelan communication, the National Radio Broadcast of Venezuela (Rdnv), currently known as Radio Nacional de Venezuela (RNV), was created, since then it has maintained its commitment to bringing information and entertainment to all corners of the Homeland.

RNV was created after the decree of then-president Eleazar López Contreras, and is currently the oldest radio station in the country. The station's first broadcast took place in December of the same year it was created from the Miraflores Palace, in Caracas, with a frequency of 630 Khz AM.

Over the years, RNV was equipped with modern and more powerful equipment. In 1941 it already had the first mobile unit and in 1943 it changed its transmitter to a two-kilowatt one. In 1945 it came under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, where it had a symphony orchestra, chamber groups, soloists and an experimental theater team. The National Theater room was even equipped to serve as the radio station's studio.

Its current headquarters, located in Chapellín (Caracas), was refurbished in 1958 and two years later it opened its second frequency, called Canal Ligero.

Since the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez to the presidency, RNV has established itself as a fundamental tool for the defense of the Bolivarian Revolution, extolling the achievements achieved and confronting the media matrices and distortions promoted by the national and international right-wing media.

Since 2002, RNV has expanded its broadcasts through the new channels: Information Channel, which constitutes the flagship channel for information and opinion; Classic Channel, intended for the dissemination of domestic and foreign classical musical works, as well as a varied cultural program; Active Channel, whose programming is mainly aimed at children and young people; Musical Channel, aimed at the dissemination of light and popular music; Short Wave International, whose programming is aimed at the dissemination of news and information at the level international.
