Russia accused the US of promoting an escalation in the Middle East after its veto of the UN resolution

This Thursday, the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation, after the veto of the United States (US) of the United Nations (UN) resolution on the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, accused the US administration of encouraging escalation in the Middle East.

“There is no illusion or doubt that the actions of the United States are the main and, in fact, the only cause of the escalation of violence and the suffering of millions of civilians in the Middle East and other regions of the world,” the statement said.

The Russian Federation stressed that Washington once again rejected the possibility of stopping “the monstrous bloodshed in Gaza” and also lost the opportunity to release the hostages.

“Russia will continue its active efforts in the UN Security Council and other international platforms in favor of an immediate ceasefire and to prevent a further expansion of the confrontation, achieve lasting and long-term peace and security in the Arab-Israeli conflict zone on a universally recognized international legal basis,” the diplomatic body added.
