The permanent representative of Russia to the United Nations (UN), Vasili Nebenzia, stated that Germany hinders the actions of the international community to clarify the attacks on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines.

According to the senior official, these facts prevent punishing the authors, both material and intellectual, after two years of investigations from Germany, Sweden and Denmark, nations that refused to share the data obtained with Russia, the news agency Sputnik Mundo said.

“Germany, knowingly or not, acts as a 'saboteur', essentially blocking any step by the international community aimed at establishing the circumstances of the attack against the Nord Stream and punishing their intellectual and material authors,” the ambassador said at a meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

According to Nebenzia, the United States (USA) did not allow, for “lack of cooperation”, the UNSC to agree on a draft declaration on the blasting of pipes.

“So that these facilities are not endangered, the attack against the Nord Stream must be investigated with the utmost care and its perpetrators, whether they are countries, criminal groups or individual criminals, must be punished in such a way that no one can think of repeating their actions,” added the diplomat.

In addition, Nebenzia described the current sabotage investigation as not transparent to Moscow and complained that Russian requests for legal aid were ignored.
