Russia condemns Israeli attacks against Syria: They do not contribute to the stabilization of the situation

The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, rejected this Wednesday that the attacks of the Zionist regime of Israel against Syria in recent days and warned about the critical state of stability in the Arab country.

Quoted by HispanTV, he stated that “actions in the Golan Heights and the buffer zone hardly contribute to the stabilization of the situation in an already destabilized Syria,” so he noted that Russia is already in contact with the new Syrian leadership regarding the destination of Russian military bases in that nation.

“Our bases are there, our diplomatic mission is there and, of course, the issue of ensuring the security of these facilities is extremely important,” Peskov added.

The Russian spokesman indicated that Moscow supported the deposed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad “in confronting terrorists” and “stabilizing the situation, which threatened the entire region.”

On the same day that Western-backed rebels, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), announced the fall of the Al-Asad government after a rapid two-week offensive that led to the capture of Damascus, the capital, Israel began a campaign on Sunday to expand its occupation of Syria.
