This Wednesday, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, reaffirmed the State's commitment to the development and constant modernization of its strategic nuclear forces. The announcement comes just 24 hours after the Ministry of Defense confirmed the successful launch of the Sarmat heavy intercontinental ballistic missile, a key component in the country's defense architecture, details Russia Today (RT)

During his speech, the president stressed that strengthening the nuclear triad is a priority to guarantee national sovereignty and global stability. According to the Russian president, the new weapons systems have no analogues in the world and are designed to overcome any current or future missile defense system, ensuring the territory's invulnerability to external threats.

The modernization of the arsenal is not limited to firepower, but includes the continuous integration of hypersonic glider blocks and high-precision navigation systems. These technological advances allow projectiles to maintain maneuverability that makes them difficult to detect, gradually replacing Soviet-made systems with greater range and load capacity.

The first units of the Sarmat system are expected to enter active combat service before the end of the year 2026. This move reinforces Moscow's strategic position in an international context marked by the absence of existing arms control treaties, maintaining the principle of balance of power on the current geopolitical board.
