This Thursday, December 18, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement regarding the evolution of the situation surrounding Venezuela and the ongoing aggression of the North American empire.
“We reaffirm our solidarity with the Venezuelan people in the face of the tests they are going through, as well as our support for the direction of the Government of Nicolás Maduro, aimed at defending national interests and the sovereignty of the Fatherland,” the letter states.
In this regard, in a publication published by the Russian Foreign Ministry, in its account on the social network Telegram, it states that “we note the continuous and deliberate escalation of tension surrounding friendly Venezuela. Of particular concern is the unilateral nature of decisions that pose a threat to international navigation.”
“We hope that the Donald Trump Administration, characterized by a rational and pragmatic approach, will not make a fatal mistake and will refrain from continuing to slide into a situation that threatens with unpredictable consequences for the entire Western Hemisphere,” he said.
The statement highlights: “We call not to fall into the ideological obsession that limits the vision of what is happening”.
It highlights that the words of the eminent son of Latin America, Simón Bolívar, are not lost today: “Every people has the right to choose their rulers for themselves, and other nations must respect that choice.”
The Russian authorities stressed that “we consistently speak out for the normalization of the dialogue between Washington and Caracas. We are convinced that it is necessary to take appropriate steps to de-escalate the situation and to find solutions to existing problems and discrepancies in a constructive manner and with respect for the rules of international law.”
“Latin America and the Caribbean must continue to be a zone of peace that guarantees the stable and independent development of the countries of the region,” he says.
