The Russian Federation reiterated its support for Venezuela in the face of the military actions undertaken by the United States in the Caribbean Sea. The statement included support for President Nicolás Maduro in the defense of sovereignty and national interests.

The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stressed the need to preserve regional stability and warned of the risks of an escalation that could affect the entire hemisphere. In his statement, he urged Washington to resume dialogue with Caracas and to respect international law as a means of resolving disputes, according to a press release.

For his part, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, publicly thanked Moscow for its gesture of solidarity and underlined the call to maintain the Caribbean Peace Zone. He reiterated that Venezuela rejects the threats, militarization and unilateral measures that seek to impose themselves on the peoples of the region.
