This Wednesday, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, met with the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, to discuss crucial issues related to the reform of the global financial architecture and climate change.
During the meeting, Mishustin highlighted the importance of increasing the role of countries of the global South and East in the international financial system.
The Russian Prime Minister also expressed concern about the restrictions imposed by the United States (USA) on the issuance of visas, which interfere with the participation of Russian delegates in the UN General Assembly.
In addition, he stressed the need to improve the effectiveness of the organization to face current global challenges and threats.
In his speech at COP29, Mikhail Mishustin presented Russia's achievements in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. He said that the country has managed to reduce them by more than half since 1990.
“Russia is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, focusing on increasing energy efficiency, developing electric transport and implementing modern solutions in agriculture and forestry,” Mishustin explained in his meeting with Guterres.
