The Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Sergey Tsiviliov, confirmed the shipment of a second oil tanker to Cuba, in the midst of the critical energy crisis facing the island.

After the success of the first shipment, the senior Russian official said that this new delivery is currently being prepared with the objective of not leaving Cubans “in a hurry”.

Moscow considers that the supply of crude oil and derivatives to Havana is “a duty”, to guarantee the operation of vital services such as electricity and medical assistance in the Caribbean nation, in the face of a scenario of maximum diplomatic pressure promoted by the United States (USA).

Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order declaring Cuba a supposed “national emergency” for the security of the North American country, and, in addition, imposed tariffs and threatened retaliation against any country or entity that sells oil to the Caribbean nation.
