The Russian Government maintains its demand for the release of the president, Nicolás Maduro and the first lady, Cilia Flores, who were kidnapped on January 3 after a military attack by the United States.

‎El Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Ryabkov, noted that the release of the presidential couple is “the first step, without which all other actions are completely hypothetical.”

‎ “But since that (the kidnapping) happened, it is necessary to insist on the release of the Venezuelan president,” he added.

‎Asimismo, it was asked: “What will be the subsequent provision? It's a separate issue. And now there's simply no reason to talk about it.”
