This Tuesday, December 23, the permanent representative of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Samuel Moncada, emphasized that the United States has become an actor that seeks to impose itself on the fundamental rights of all States of the American Continent, even at the cost of the destruction of this organization.

In that scenario, he expressed concern about the intention of the United States to invade Venezuela, to demand that the Bolivarian nation hand over its land, oil and minerals.

This was stated during the Emergency Session requested by Venezuela in the Security Council of the United Nations (UN), to evaluate the aggressions of the United States.

The Venezuelan diplomatic representative pointed out that the U.S. government has binding legal obligations in multiple legal and international instruments, and yet violates them openly and with total impunity.

“He behaves like an irresponsible actor in the community of nations and seeks to convince the world that the law is for strict compliance by everyone, except the current government in North America,” he said.

In this regard, Moncada stressed that “it must be clear that the problem is not Venezuela, but the government of the United States. The massive transgression of international legality must be understood at its roots.”

He also asserted that Venezuela “has resisted countless attempts at destabilization under the leadership of President Nicolás Maduro, who has been the subject of the most intense international campaigns against a head of state in the history of our continent.”
