Representatives of the national scientific area and members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) held an exchange day this Wednesday on the current geopolitical landscape, at the headquarters of the governing body for research and development.

During the session, the sectoral vice-president for Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, indicated that this is the first time that both sectors share visions regarding the role of defense in strengthening the scientific model.

He stressed that this approach seeks to understand international dynamics from a perspective linked to autonomy and sovereignty, integrating scientific knowledge with the strategic experience of the FANB.

Jiménez Ramírez also stressed the need to link innovation with essential aspects such as food, pointing out that knowledge alone is not enough without a concrete coordination with the actors responsible for safeguarding the territory.

Addressing the country's position vis-a-vis international movements, he indicated that Venezuela has energy advantages and a historical trajectory that must be recognized as key elements when formulating an agenda in science and technology aligned with collective interests.

He recalled experiences of cooperation with countries such as Iran, which have contributed to the supply of biological products in the country, thanks to institutional agreements that allow the strengthening of national capacities.

Finally, he argued that the emancipatory history of Venezuela represents a fundamental component that affects its place within the world dynamic, and that its defense must be linked to the promotion of knowledge as a tool to consolidate independence, according to a press release from the Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology (MINCYT).
