In your participation in the course: Change or Climate Crisis? Challenges for humanity, within the framework of the Plan for Mass Formation in Popular Planning, the Sectorial Vice President of Planning, Ricardo Menéndez stated that “to change the civilization model, it is necessary to change ways of life, in the way we relate to each other, otherwise, we will be permanently behind the consequences and not the causes that are causing this climate crisis”.

Menéndez pointed out that addressing the climate phenomenon constitutes a central axis within the Venezuelan State's forecasts for the coming months, aimed at containing weather contingencies, he reported on his website Radio Nacional de Venezuela.

In this regard, he highlighted the role of Popular Power and the State's immediate response by strengthening the National Seismological Network and the operational capacity of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH) to guarantee early warnings.

During the meeting, the planning authority recalled the validity of Fidel Castro's proposals regarding the impact of the capitalist model on climate and food security, stressing the strategic importance of maintaining inventories of agricultural land to ensure the design of sustainable public policies.

For his part, the Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Nelson Rodríguez, explained that the National Government maintains a preventive monitoring system based on indicators of temperature, drought levels and reservoir status. He explained that these actions seek to provide accurate information and recommendations to the population to face the period of the El Niño phenomenon, characterized by increased temperatures and reduced rainfall, as well as the formation of storms resulting from ocean warming.
