SENAMECF staff participated in the course “Forensic Sciences in Aquatic Spaces”

Staff of the National Service of Medicine and
Forensic Sciences (SENAMECF) “Forensic Sciences in Aquatic Spaces”, in
order to optimize techniques for dealing with cases in marine and river spaces.
The training, which will last six
months, has 29 professionals, experts in various areas such as:
Medicine, Pathology, Biology, Criminalistics, Law, Biochemistry,
Police Sciences, Criminal Investigation, Rescue and Rescue, Veterinary,
Marine Biology, among others; who participate in this first cohort promoted by the Department of Accreditation, Certification and Advanced
Forensic Scientific Development of Senamecf, together with
the University of the Orient (UDO), Nueva Esparta nucleus.
According to information issued by the Ministry
of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace (MPPRIJP) “this training
will allow the effective resolution of situations that may arise on
coasts and river territories, in turn, these professionals will be
multipliers of training the rest of the staff so that in any
event they can form a multidisciplinary team to deal with cases
of drowning, shipwrecks or other contingencies that may occur in
this type of space”.
Among the chairs taught are: Pathology, Non-Routine Identification, Biological Evidences, Forensic Biology, Diving and Underwater Photography; taught by professionals, including the Deputy Director of Senamecf, Dr. Yanuacelis Cruz; the forerunner of forensic diving in Latin America, Tte. Colonel Luis Torres; the marine biologist and Senamecf official, Nelsy Rivero; the head of the Genetics Laboratory of the Chilean Carabinieri, Marcelo Alonso; the marine biologists Jonathan Vera and Carlos Lira; Navy divers and Marine Firefighters, Juan Alonzo and Jorge Blanco, among other teachers involved.
