At the headquarters of the Consulate General of Venezuela in Naples, Italy, an important act of solidarity took place in favor of the Bolivarian Revolution and the government of President Nicolás Maduro, and in repudiation of military deployment and imperialist aggressions in the Caribbean.

The rally was organized by the Network of Italian Communists and the youth collective “Cambiare Rotta”, who called on political parties, solidarity movements and associations in the territory to concentrate their efforts to denounce the aggression against Venezuela, which has a great impact on peace in the Latin American and Caribbean region.

During the event, Consul General Esquía Rubín said that “our country today faces the military threat of the United States government off our shores. Under pretexts and lies, imperialism threatens the peace and security of the region, violating the rules of international law and other norms that govern international relations. Our Government has denounced acts against civilians, fishing vessels, in which people have been killed, without due process.”

He added that “the military threat is aimed at regime change. Venezuela is at peace, our government continues to guarantee the tranquility, economic growth and well-being of the population, but, at the same time, the people are organized in a civic-military-police union to defend our territory, our sovereignty and peace.”

For his part, Michele Franco, representative of the Network of Communists in the Campania Region, said: “Today we are symbolically in front of the headquarters of the Venezuelan Consulate in Naples, because we want to give an important signal of our solidarity with Venezuela. We want to draw attention to a military aggression that the media hide and do not really explain the causes of this situation,” said a press release from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
