The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs,
Yván Gil, held a telephone contact this Friday with the Minister of International
Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Ronald Lamola, with whom
he discussed the preparations for the holding of the next binational Joint Commission in 2026.
“During this call, we transmitted President Nicolás Maduro's message of
congratulations to the South African people and to the
Government of Cyril Ramaphosa for their firm stance in defense of the Global South within the framework of
the G20 Summit,” Foreign Minister Gil explained through his Telegram channel.
In his message, the Venezuelan diplomat stated that the
next Joint Commission between the two countries will be held “with the objective of
continuing to strengthen our bilateral relations and cooperation for mutual benefit.”
In addition, both foreign ministers analyzed “the regional
geopolitical situation”, and the Government and people of the Bolivarian nation received
“the unwavering support of South Africa in the face of bellicose threats directed
against Venezuela, which contravene international law and seek to seize the country's natural resources”.
