Superior Basketball League will have 26 matches per team

The technical manager of the Venezuelan Superior Basketball League, José Correa, reported during the official presentation of the tournament that each team will play 26 games in the regular round, 16 against rivals from the same conference and 10 against the other, for a total of 130 games in the elimination phase.

“The big news is that we are going to play between conferences: those from the Central West will play two games against those from the Central East,” he said.

He also explained that the regular round will end on December 2 and that, due to the tight schedule, there will only be semifinals and finals, both in best-of-three series, with the final scheduled for December 21.

For his part, the president of the Venezuelan Basketball Federation, Hantony Coello, stressed that the new league will adopt the rules of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
“For us, it is essential that we can have a unified calendar adapted to the international FIBA calendar, as well as that the rules are the same, because when they are altered or modified, it affects the growth of the player and the participation of our teams in the different windows,” he said.

Coello added that the plan includes women's basketball, with announcements scheduled for October, following recent achievements in the Central American Games and the historic qualification for the World Cup.

“We are working so that in October we will make the next announcements for 2027, 2028 and 2029, because our athletes also deserve all the support,” he added.
