This Thursday, April 9, the inhabitants of San Cristóbal, Táchira state, will have the opportunity to witness one of nature's most fascinating astronomical events: the zenith passage of the Sun.
During this phenomenon, the star king will be positioned exactly at the highest point in the sky (the zenith) causing the momentary disappearance of shadows on all vertical objects.
The Foundation for the Development of Science and Technology (Fundacite Táchira) has organized a special day in Plaza Bolívar, which will start at 11:00 a.m. The peak of the event, where the Sun will reach its peak of verticality, will take place exactly at 12:50 p.m.
The activity, according to a press release from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MINCYT), will have a technical and pedagogical deployment that includes guided observation with the use of telescopes equipped with certified solar filters to ensure safe vision.
In addition, practical demonstrations with sundials and talks on celestial mechanics given by experts are planned. Also community interaction, with spaces designed for families, students and fans to share questions and knowledge.
This meeting seeks to bring science closer to everyday life, allowing attendees to understand in a practical way the relationship between planetary movements and the perception of time and space.
