This Sunday, October 5, at 4:00 p.m., at the Alberto de Paz y Mateos Theater, the artistic headquarters of the National Theater Company, “The Gods and the Goodbyes”, a play by the Latin American Repertory Theater (TEATRELA), will be presented on the occasion of the group's 40th anniversary.
Under the direction of maestro Costa Palamides, the staging of “The Gods and the Goodbyes” promises to delight the public with an emotional walk through emblematic works, poems and songs of Latin American dramaturgy.
The theatrical piece includes a selection of excerpts from the ancient Mayan drama “Rabinal Achí”, the Quechua epic “Ollantay”, the baroque comedy “The Commitments of a House” by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (Mexico) and the iconic modern Cuban tragedy “Electra Garrigó” by Virgilio Piñera.
In addition to these milestones, the play pays homage to the poetry and theater of key authors such as João Cabral de Melo Neto (Brazil), Eduardo Galeano (Uruguay), Peky Andino Moscoso (Ecuador), Abelardo Estorino (Cuba), Marco Antonio de la Parra (Chile), Augusto Monterroso (Guatemala) and Juan Gelman (Argentina).
This presentation is part of the Latin American Theater Meeting, organized by TEATRELA on the occasion of its 40th anniversary, which includes various activities at the same venue.
