This Tuesday, members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) disabled two aircraft that were hidden on a clandestine runway in the Atures municipality of the state of Amazonas, as part of the tactical actions of Operation Fog 2025.

The discovery came after an overflight of recognition in the jurisdiction of the Guiana Strategic Integral Defense Region (REDI), in response to coordinates provided by the Strategic Analysis Center of the National Anti-Drug Superintendency (SNA), the Ministry of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace said in a press release.

The detected aircraft were on an unauthorized runway and are presumed to have been used by criminal structures linked to illegal drug trafficking. Once the perimeter was secured, the military personnel carried out the corresponding technical examinations, extracted the GPS devices and notified the Public Prosecutor's Office for the beginning of the legal examinations.

Subsequently, the aircraft were completely disabled, in compliance with the provisions of current legislation. The verification carried out before the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) made it possible to verify that one of the acronyms corresponds to an aircraft registered at the Sucre base, which reinforces suspicions about the alteration of identity and its criminal use.
