The 20th FILVEN Cojedes chapter culminated in a wide variety of presentations

The 20th edition of the Venezuelan International
Book Fair (FILVEN) chapter Cojedes successfully culminated last
weekend with a wide variety of presentations, including the work “Afro-descendants Celebrating Between Gods and Spirits”, by
guest writer Diógenes Díaz (
The Dog and the Frog 2024).
According to information from Venezolana de
Televisión, at the book festival in the Cojedeña entity, titles about myths and legends of the Venezuelan
plains related to fantastic literature were also
presented.
As for Diógenes Díaz's book, it contains
a compilation of 10 essays by different authors: Bety Mendoza, César
Escalona, Karina Estraño, Gladys Quiroga, Gladys Obelmejías, Miguel Urbina, Eward Ysea Pulgar, Argisay Molina, Pablo Landaez and Luis Perdomo.
“This book, which talks about the
spiritual heritage inherited from Africa, is intended to promote respect for
freedom of worship and recognize religious diversity in Venezuela, as established in the Constitution,”
he said.
He reaffirmed that in his work “people of African descent
celebrating between gods and spirits, written with different hands, various
postures, is presented as an unprecedented experience that shows the experience
of life and the rigorous investigation of their subjects”.
It should be noted that this work is part of the Historical Insurgencies and Afroepistemologies Collection of the El Perro y la Rana Publishing Foundation, an editorial project promoted in partnership with the National Book Center (CENAL).
