The Bolivarian Government began work to rehabilitate the Orinoquia Bridge, in Bolivar state, as part of the National Plan for Comprehensive Road Care, promoted by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
On its account on the social network Instagram, the Government of Bolívar reported that this rehabilitation is being carried out thanks to the coordination between the Minister of Popular Power for Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán and the governor of the entity, Yulisbeth García.
“In this first stage, the demolition and subsequent removal of the asphalt layer will be carried out and then replaced by the 54 expansion joints of the structure, which connects the south of the country with the rest of the territory, improving times and road safety,” the note specifies.
He explains that due to the rehabilitation work, the authorities keep the passage through the bridge's north-south channel closed, allowing a two-way detour to maintain traffic flow, for which purpose officials of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) remain in the area to guide drivers.
It also reports that on the second bridge over the Orinoco River, known as Orinoquia, work began on the rehabilitation and comprehensive maintenance of the imposing structure that connects the state of Bolívar with the states of Monagas and Anzoátegui.
“More than 6 kilometers will be fully serviced with total scarification for the installation of continuous asphalt folders for the easy transport of light and cargo vehicles,” he said.
