The Bolivarian Government remains deployed throughout the country, to deal with damage caused by the rains, especially in the Western zone, with special emphasis on the Andean states, where intense rainfall has caused heavy damage in various sectors.
In this regard, in statements to Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), the governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, offered an updated balance of the effects caused by the rains in recent days.
He noted that the Government's social development teams remain deployed to serve families harmed by the climate situation. “The strong impact that the rains have had on 12 municipalities is evident, but especially Junín, San Cristóbal, Fernández Feo,” he said.
He also regretted the complete loss of 85 homes due to a flood of the Torbes River in the Eleazar López Contreras neighborhood, in addition to a total of 240 homes destroyed in the Andean entity.
Bernal reported a complex situation in the town of San Vicente de la Revancha, due to the rise of the local ravine, which totally damaged the access road.
However, he reported on current dredging work, for which nine jumbos and ten heavy machines were deployed.
He also indicated that they aim to once again facilitate access to areas such as Rio Chiquito, Cordero, San José Bolívar and the sections of Troncal 5. Last Thursday, the 26th, the Bolivarian Government sent officials to the state of Merida to carry out the survey of critical areas, from El Vigía to the El Baho sector, where 25 affected areas are being treated.
For his part, the governor of the state of Trujillo, Gerardo Márquez, offered the balance of the situation in the state as a result of rainfall.
He reported that the national government has treated families who have suffered damage to their homes, as well as the edge faults generated in the road.
Márquez pointed out that the Transandine Highway, through which 60% of the food to supply the country flows, is obstructed, in response, heavy machinery has been deployed to assist this stretch. Also, alternate routes are in place to ensure that food reaches its destination.
In a VTV review, from the Santos Marquina municipality, Mérida state, they report 16 deteriorated bridges and 25 damaged roads, plus multiple affected houses are part of the attacks that have left heavy rainfall on the Andean entity.
