The Herminia Mijares Educational Unit, located in the Tiuna City urban area of Caracas, will be rehabilitated and expanded with resources approved in the last National Popular Consultation by the residents of that Community Circuit and with additional contributions from the national Government, announced the Minister of Education Héctor Rodríguez.

During a visit to the school this Friday, the minister explained that the organized community will be responsible for the rehabilitation of the central area, while the Ministry will build a module of six classrooms that will replace an infrastructure that does not meet the right conditions for learning.

“The resources of the Popular Consultation are going to be used for everything you proposed (...) The ministry, with resources approved by President Nicolás Maduro, will be in charge of the new module, you are responsible for fixing the bathrooms, expanding the kitchen, relighting the living rooms and all the things that are required, it is the communal power exercising,” he explained to the teachers, fathers and mothers who accompanied the tour.

Rodríguez, according to a press release from the Ministry, also proposed that this project should have a second phase, consisting of another extension to land adjacent to the school, once the procedures are carried out and the necessary permits are obtained.

“This second moment depends on whether we coordinate to see if they give us that space or not, they have to explain it to the neighbors, it will depend - I clarify - on the permissions they give us and on that we will work together with the Single Urban Planning Authority, because maybe someone has something else planned, and if not there, we are responsible for locating another space for the growth of the institution with three new modules with a court in the middle”, he concluded.
