With more than 4,000 musicians from the centers of Caracas, the Simón Bolívar Youth and Children's Orchestra and Choir System celebrated 50 years of creation together with the Town, with a massive concert in the Plaza de la Juventud, in the Fine Arts sector in the capital city.
“A mega-concert where children and young people from the centers of Caracas, all parents and representatives, crowded here in this Youth Square, celebrate this festival of music,” Eduardo Méndez, the executive director of El Sistema, told Venezolana de Televisión.
He explained that the more than 4,000 boys, girls and young people were in rehearsal at the time, to set the tone for their work, where they will perform a diverse repertoire, with traditional Venezuelan and universal music from the classics of world music that began at 5:00pm.
He highlighted the formative and academic sequence for transmitting music and human values carried out by El Sistema, as part of the philosophy and legacy of the teacher José Antonio Abreu.
Méndez took the opportunity to thank the initiative of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to create the University named after the founding teacher, José Antonio Abreu, which complements the work being done with the Simon Bolivar Conservatory and elevating it to the university level.
“It fills us with a lot of happiness, a lot of pride, in addition, and a lot of commitment because it's like getting our teachers, our trainers, to be able to graduate from university. That was also one of Maestro Abreu's great dreams,” he emphasized.
He commented that the presence of more than 4,000 musicians in this plaza in Caracas is an important mass of children and young people, emulating what has happened in each of the cities of Venezuela, where there were massive concerts in Falcón, Mérida, Trujillo Monagas and other entities.
“Today it was Caracas's turn to do this mega-concert to join this celebration,” he concluded, and extended the invitation to families to enjoy the musical tribute under the Caracas sky.
