The municipalities that make up the Altos Mirandinos subregion: Carrizal, Los Salias and Guaicaipura, implemented a ban on the sale, distribution and use of fireworks during the Christmas season of 2025, to prevent risks to health, public safety and animal welfare.

The Carrizal municipality formalized the restriction through a decree signed by Mayor Jennifer Mujica, which came into effect on December 1st.

With this decision, Carrizal joins Los Salias and Guaicaipura, establishing a total ban on the practice of pyrotechnics throughout the Altos Mirandinos area.

In addition, the measure warns of the dangers of using pyrotechnic items such as burns, hearing injuries, respiratory problems and complications for people with asthma and cardiovascular conditions.

For his part, the mayor of the Guaicaipura municipality, Farith Fraija, had already taken the initiative to restrict the sale, distribution and use of these artifacts since November 18, before the official start of December in order to guarantee the well-being of the inhabitants during the celebrations.

“We are doing this to protect the family, especially children and adolescents from the misuse of fireworks. Christmas should be a space for encounter, enjoyment and union, not for putting the lives of others at risk,” Fraija said at the time.
