This Sunday Uruguay celebrates presidential and parliamentary elections

This Sunday, October 27, the presidential election is taking place in Uruguay, as well as for the members of the parliamentary chamber.

These are 2.7 million citizens called to exercise their right to vote. On this election day, Uruguayan citizens will elect a Head of State who will preside over the period 2025-2030. In addition, the Vice President of the Republic and the representatives of the Senate, consisting of 30 members. In the same way, for 99 parliamentarians, the voters will also decide on two plebiscites: one on social security and the other, on night raids.

On this election day, 11 candidates are part of the proposal to take office currently held by Luis Lacalle Pou, as President of Uruguay. According to the latest polls, the one nominated by the Broad Front, Yamandú Orsi, led with 41%. However, Álvaro Delgado for the National Party and Andrés Ojeda, of the Colorado Party, are still in the running.
