Yemeni citizens gathered this Friday, December 19, in various regions of the country, with the firm intention of safeguarding the integrity of their spiritual beliefs and ratifying their unwavering commitment to the struggle of the Palestinian people.

The mobilization, Telesur reported, toured strategic points in the nation, to raise a cry of resistance to external aggressions that seek to undermine the identity of Arab and Muslim nations.

Under the slogan of a general call to protect faith and justice, demonstrators crowded public spaces in response to the call made by the leader of the Ansar Allah movement, Sayyed Abdul Malik al-Houthi. This street action not only represented an act of religious devotion, but it was also consolidated as a clear political stance in the face of repeated offenses directed at the fundamental pillars of their culture.

Popular discontent ignited after denigrating acts perpetrated in the West, specifically a direct affront against the holy book by sectors linked to US politics. Such provocations have been interpreted by Yemeni society as an extension of the symbolic violence that accompanies the military and economic aggressions imposed by imperial powers in the Middle East region.

During the day, the voices of complaint described these actions as atrocious crimes that violate basic respect between the world's civilizations and religions. Al-Houthi emphasized that disrespect for sacred symbols is not an isolated event, but rather a deliberate tactic to humiliate peoples who refuse to submit to the dictates of the powers that today besiege the area.

The leadership of Ansar Allah linked these provocations to the current war scenario in Palestine, pointing to the active complicity of Western governments, mainly the United States and the United Kingdom. For the demonstrators, the defense of the Koran is inseparable from solidarity with Gaza and the West Bank, considering that both struggles are part of the same front against expansionism and oppression.

The day concluded with a call to maintain vigilance and national unity in the face of the challenges faced by Yemeni sovereignty. The organizing groups emphasized that the massive response in Sanaá and other provinces shows that the people remain alert and willing to mobilize as often as necessary to protect their values and support the self-determination of sister peoples.
