Wilyer Abreu de las Águilas del Zulia won the trophy for the twenty-third Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) Home Run Festival, played at the José Bernardo Pérez Stadium in Valencia.

Abreu won the trophy after beating teammate Andrés Chaparro in a close 9-8 final.

A total of 232 home runs were hit on the day, an unprecedented number in the history of the event, which returned to Valencia after eight years, to a full house, with 15,400 fans, according to the LVBP press.

The native of Maracaibo became only the second Zulian to win the Home Run Festival, after Carlos González, who was two-time champion in 2015 and 2016.

Abreu and Chaparro reached the last resort after beating Yasiel Puig (15-13) and Ronald Acuña Jr (15-13) in the semifinals, respectively.
