The governor of the state of Carabobo, Rafael Lacava, invited the parishioners to participate on Easter Sunday, April 20, in the traditional celebration of the Blessing of the Sea, a religious event with more than 162 years of history that honors the work of fishermen in the coastal region and blesses the waters, as well as the men and women of the sea.

From the Puerto Cabello waterfront, Lacava extended the invitation, adding that these are “the oldest and most significant religious traditions in our state and the Carabobeño coastal axis, the Blessing of the Sea of Puerto Cabello. This Caribbean Sea, which is blessed every year on Easter Sunday, will once again be the scene of this beautiful tradition that marks the close of Holy Week”.

The Blessing of the Sea consists of a mass celebrated on the high seas from La Gabarra, the main vessel that is surrounded by small boats of fishermen, surfers and other boats. At the same time, hundreds of parishioners and civil authorities gather on the Puerto Cabello waterfront to participate from the mainland in one of the most important expressions of faith on the Carabobo coast. The ceremony will begin at 8:00 in the morning.
