Training for new children's parties began in San Pedro de Guarenas

The Pablo Núñez de la Parranda Civil Association of San Pedro de Guarenas, Plaza municipality of Miranda state, began an annual training cycle for the new children's parties of this expression declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco.

The head of the party, Pablo Núñez, explained that these workshops will last an annual duration and seek that children and adolescents create a new party, to thus guarantee the centers of initiation and transmission of knowledge within the community, an important step for the permanence of cultural expressions.

“We are going to reveal what singing and dancing are, but also their historical overview, how this tradition came to the Mirandine lands, what Hacienda San Pedro was, the role played by the heads of the party and how this tradition has been passed from generation to generation,” he explained.

The children will also learn to make the maracas, the hats, the costumes, who María Ignacia is and why she is a man, how to dance and play the instruments, “all of this will be divided into several theoretical-practical modules that will allow comprehensive training,” he reiterated.
