The president-elect of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, nominated his candidate to lead the Navy. This is John Phelan, an investor and art collector who did not serve in the military.

John will be a tremendous force for our Navy members and a strong leader in promoting my vision of 'America First',” the Republican politician reported in his account on Truth Social.

“John's intelligence and leadership are unmatched,” he said, adding that the investor's knowledge and experience will “improve the lives of courageous Americans” serving in the Armed Forces, according to a publication in Russia Today (RT).

Phelan's assignment will require approval from the Senate, where the Republican Party will have the majority in the new legislature beginning in January.
