The Venezuelan umpires, Edwin Moscoso and Carlos Torres, will be providing justice from the field of play in the first game of the National League Divisional Series between the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies.
“Moscoso, who had experience in a Wild Card series, will be assigned to first base. While Carlos Torres, with a little more experience, since he was in two Divisional Series and one Championship Series, will work in left field. Both will accompany Andy Fletcher (main), Doug Eddings (second base), James Hoye (third base) and Rob Drake (right field)”, published the sports portal Meridiano.
These announcements will mark an unprecedented event for national baseball, with two Venezuelan umpires present in a postseason game in the major leagues.
