The Office of the United Nations (UN) for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), reported this Tuesday, February 27, that the Israeli occupying forces prevented the passage of a medical convoy that evacuated 24 patients from the Al Amal Hospital, located in the city of Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip, reported the Telesur website.

“The convoy evacuating 24 patients from Al Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis was blocked for more than seven hours by Israeli forces despite prior coordination,” said spokesman Jens Laerke.

OCHA reported that military personnel removed patients, including a pregnant woman and a newborn, from the ambulances, while the paramedical service was forced to undress.

The agency revealed that the Israeli occupying forces deprived three paramedics of their freedom, “despite the fact that their personal data had been handed over in advance to the Israeli forces.”

He also reported that one was released, meanwhile, two others are being held, with the international body requesting immediate release.

The office also said that it is not an occasional event that “aid convoys have been attacked and are systematically denied access to people in need”, drawing attention to the difficulties in providing humanitarian service in the south of the Palestinian enclave in a safe manner.

In addition, he reported that the hospital has been the target of military operations by the Israeli Army that over the course of the month there have been at least 25 murders in 40 Israeli military actions between January 22 and February 22.
