This Tuesday, the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Antonio Guterres, strongly condemned the Israeli bombing that killed dozens of Palestinians in the city of Beit Lahia, north Gaza.
António Guterres “unequivocally condemns the continued and widespread loss of life in Gaza, including the Israeli air strikes in Beit Lahia, which killed dozens of Palestinians, including many women and children,” said Farhan Haq, the Deputy Spokesman of the United Nations Secretary General at a press conference this Tuesday.
Guterres said that “he remains deeply alarmed by the rapid deterioration of the situation of civilians in northern Gaza, including mass displacement and the lack of essential elements for survival.”
“Civilians must be respected and protected at all times and immediate and unimpeded access of humanitarian and rescue teams must be allowed to save lives,” said the spokesman on behalf of the UN Secretary General.
