“We are all going to reactivate the country's sports machinery, to begin preparation, training, general physical preparation and the assignment of loads necessary for technical, tactical, specific and competitive work, because this year we are going with everything, to continue to win, to continue to triumph, to continue to win at the international level and at the national level as well,” said the leader of the sports portfolio.

In this regard, it was highlighted that, despite the difficulties arising from the blockade, sanctions and the adverse international context, Venezuelan sports have made significant progress during the year 2025, consolidating public policies that allowed it to articulate at all levels of the sports system and obtain positive results in different competitions.

“I ask everyone to resume with strength, with passion, with commitment, but without forgetting that we have a task pending on the street, every day, in support of our brother President Nicolás Maduro Moros and the first fighter Cilia Flores. There is always a government at the forefront, with all the mechanisms activated to reactivate and recover the country's economy. All economic teams working to generate the wealth necessary for the economic stability of all,” said the minister.

He also reiterated that the best way to defend national sovereignty is through daily work, discipline and professional excellence, from coaches, doctors, physiotherapists and leaders, to athletes.

“We urge each of you to carry out your work with passion and commitment, raising the level of Venezuelan sports and contributing to the well-being of the people. The work of each one of us, from the man who is responsible for surveillance in the ministry, the one who seeks water or serves coffee, pays tribute to the success of our athletes, which is the ultimate goal of this institution,” added Cardillo.

For her part, the president of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee, María Soto, highlighted the importance of each worker in the success of athletes, who strive to leave the tricolor flag at the top of any sporting stage.

“We have done it with sweat, with sacrifice and with tears in order to defend our people before the world, and today we are united as a family that will fight for their freedom to speak up, because we are only human beings who want the good and peace of our children, parents and grandchildren, but who will represent Venezuela with gallantry,” he said.

In turn, the member of the women's national sword team, Eliana Lugo, on behalf of all the athletes, highlighted the institutional support for the sport and expressed her willingness to continue to leave the name of the country high, with discipline, effort and dedication.

“On behalf of all Venezuelan athletes, we call for the release of our president Nicolás Maduro and our first lady Cilia Flores, because they have always supported us at every step of our career, now we are supporting them and we hope that we will soon get out of this situation,” said the fencer.
