The House of Representatives of the United States (USA), with a Republican majority, stopped Democrat Al Green's initiative to remove the president of that country, Donald Trump, for attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Despite the control of the Republicans, the vote was 344-79 and the impeachment of the president stands out.

After the votes, 128 Democrats, including the three main leaders of the caucus, voted with the Republicans to file Green's resolution, which accuses Trump of abuse of power.

For months, the representative of Texas has been trying to push for a vote on the impeachment of Trump, harshly criticizing his management of foreign and domestic policy.

Last Tuesday, the congressman reaffirmed that initiative, presenting and forcing the vote on a resolution that holds Trump responsible for not seeking authorization from Congress before the June 21 air strike on Iranian nuclear plants.

The text emphasized that, in his tenure as president of the United States, “in violation of his constitutional oath to faithfully exercise office,” Trump abused his powers “by ignoring the doctrine of the separation of powers by usurping the power of Congress to declare war.”

Despite the failure of the initiative, Democrats, and some Republicans, have criticized Trump's attack, and there are those who claim that it justifies impeachment. The Democratic representative of New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who voted against shelving the resolution, spoke out over the weekend on the president's decision and stated that it did constitute grounds for impeachment.

Kentucky Republican Representative Thomas Massie wrote in a statement that the attacks were “not constitutional” and collaborated with his California Democratic colleague, Ro Khanna, on a resolution on war powers to prevent further U.S. intervention in Iran.

The White House praised Trump's efforts in the Middle East, considering that he “quickly achieved what no other president has achieved: thanks to his leadership of 'peace through force'”, Iran's nuclear program was destroyed and a ceasefire was agreed to,” Deputy Press Secretary Taylor Rogers told The Hill.
