USA: Series of powerful earthquakes shakes California

This Thursday, a series of powerful earthquakes were reported off the state of California, United States (USA), with aftershocks in the continental territory, as reported by Russia Today (RT), on its website.

After the earthquake, aftershocks were felt on the mainland. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the initial earthquake had a magnitude of 7.0, while the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) raised it to 7.3.

According to the Southern California Earthquake Data Center, the earthquake's epicenter was located 99 kilometers southwest of the city of Ferndale, while the depth of the earthquake is estimated at 10 kilometers.

In this regard, NOAA issued a tsunami warning for areas of California and Oregon. At the moment, no casualties or material damage have been reported.
