The Vatican press service stated this Friday, February 14, that Pope Francis is in a state of health that is considered satisfactory, despite having been hospitalized for a respiratory infection that he began to suffer earlier this month.

According to the statement, the Supreme Pontiff “began to receive medical therapy in a hospital,” the Telesur website reported.

In addition, the press release states that His Holiness is admitted to the Gemelli Clinic, in the city of Rome, capital of Italy.

In this hospital environment, treatment of bronchitis will continue, while your schedule for the next few days will be pending your full recovery.

Meanwhile, the statement itself indicates that it refers to a “mild febrile disorder”.

For his part, the Vatican spokesman, Matteo Bruni, stressed that “the Pope is calm, in a good mood and has read a newspaper”.

Earlier this month, Francisco explained to an audience that he had suffered a severe cold, which did not allow him to deliver his homily (sermon).

Faced with this situation, the Supreme Pontiff asked another priest “to continue reading because I still can't deal with my bronchitis. I hope next time I can.”

In 2019, Pope Francis underwent cataract surgery at the Pio XI Clinic in Rome. Meanwhile, according to the Página 12 portal, the pope “has been suffering from a knee problem for several years that requires him to use a cane and a wheelchair, but he has never wanted to have surgery, since he says he has problems with general anesthesia”.
