Vatican: Pope remains calm and at rest

The Vatican Press Office reported that Pope Francis spent a quiet night and is still at rest.

According to the report, the respiratory crises he suffered this Monday were caused by a bronchial reaction to expel accumulated mucus.

In this regard, he indicated that medical tests ruled out the presence of a new infection, and treatment was resumed with non-invasive mechanical ventilation.

Although his health condition remains complex and his prognosis is reserved, Francisco remains alert and aware.

Pope Francis, 88, has been hospitalized at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome since February 14, 2025, after bronchitis developed into bilateral pneumonia.”
