During the 58th session of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations, which is taking place in Geneva, the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, met this Monday with his counterpart from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, with the aim of reaffirming the deep friendship and alliance between his Villages.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister said that he fulfills the task of continuing to strengthen bilateral ties, under the precepts of the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace .

Relations between Caracas and Tehran were established on August 9, 1950 and reached a new level of understanding and strategic cooperation starting in 1999, with the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela under the leadership of Commander Hugo Chávez, who redirected the country's foreign policy towards the construction of a multicentric and multipolar world.

In 74 years of strategic alliance, both countries have signed different instruments of cooperation, including memorandums of understanding, contracts and agreements in the fields of energy, health, education, technology, transport, agriculture, housing, defense and food, among others.

Venezuela and Iran share the vision of a new world order in the Non-Aligned Movement (MNOAL), the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries (FPEG) and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which they founded in 1960 together with Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
