At the Alejandro Otero Museum (MAO) in Caracas, Venezuela and Mexico came together to commemorate the Day of the Dead, with an emotional cultural event to remember the ancestors of both nations.
Those attending the event enjoyed an atmosphere full of music, dance, gastronomy and artistic expressions, as well as different indigenous cultural events that captivated the public.
The Minister for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, highlighted the importance of this celebration as a space for dialogue and encounter between the various cultural expressions of Our America, which on this occasion, allowed Mexico and Venezuela to share their traditions for the commemoration of this date
“In Mexico they have a very colorful and beautiful tradition around the Day of the Dead and in Venezuela too, that's why we have brought together in the same space the brothers and sisters of the Kariña people,” said the minister.
He also highlighted the beautiful carpet made by Mexico. “We had the privilege of receiving some brothers and sisters who brought us a precious sample of their culture, their identity, around the Day of the Dead,” said Villegas, according to the Ministry for Culture on the social network Instagram.
For his part, the Mexican ambassador to Venezuela, Leopoldo de Gyves, highlighted the collaboration between the two countries for the organization of this event.
“Here in Venezuela we are developing a program of activities around this tradition in close alliance with various institutions such as the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples, the Ministry of Transportation, Conviasa, PDVSA La Estancia, CELARG, the Alejandro Otero Museum, and many others,” he said.
