The Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations in Geneva held a meeting with social movements based in Switzerland, within the framework of the strengthening of Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy and in the face of the complex geopolitical scenario affecting the stability of Latin America, the Caribbean and other regions of the world.

The event was led by Ambassador Alexander Yánez, who shared with the attendees a detailed analysis of the context of aggression facing Venezuela, as well as the multidimensional effects that hostile policies of the United States (USA) continue to generate on the economy, the well-being of the population and national sovereignty.

The ambassador delved into the strategic interests underlying these actions, explaining the role played by Venezuelan energy resources, including oil, gas, gold and strategic minerals, in shaping the political, media and military offensive directed against the country.

He also presented fundamental elements about the so-called Operation “Spear of the South” in the Caribbean and its implications for regional security.

The intervention of the Head of Mission was accompanied by lawyer Rania Madi, representative of Law for Palestine, who presented a critical analysis of the deterioration of international law, the revival of practices contrary to the Charter of the United Nations and the serious consequences that these trends impose on peoples who continue to defend their sovereignty in contexts of conflict and external threats.

The meeting created a space for reflection, articulation and political debate among the social movements, solidarity groups, popular organizations and human rights defenders present.

The participants expressed their unanimous rejection of imperialist aggressions, disinformation campaigns and systematic attempts to undermine Venezuelan democratic institutions.

In addition, they agreed on the need to counter manipulated narratives that seek to criminalize the Venezuelan State and justify policies of interference.

Attendees also warned about recent extraterritorial actions and irregular operations carried out by U.S. forces in the Caribbean and the Pacific, stressing that these practices constitute serious violations of international law and represent a direct threat to regional peace and stability. The urgency of strengthening international coordination mechanisms in defense of multilateralism, non-interference and peaceful coexistence among States was emphasized.

The Permanent Mission of Venezuela to the United Nations in Geneva thanked the expressions of solidarity, stressing that the unity of peoples constitutes the strongest response to imperial threats. It reaffirmed its determination to continue to promote peace, social justice and an international order based on respect for the sovereignty and sovereign equality of States.
