The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held a meeting this Thursday with the Portuguese ambassador accredited to Venezuela, João Pedro Fins do Lago.

Through his Telegram channel, the foreign minister noted that, during the meeting held at the headquarters of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, the historical ties that unite these nations were reviewed, “highlighting the important Portuguese-Venezuelan community that resides in our country.”

Caracas and Lisbon have concluded agreements in sectors such as technology, education, energy, food, infrastructure, health and telecommunications.

In February of this year, the European diplomat met with the Deputy Minister for Europe and North America, Andrea Corao, to review issues of mutual interest in their countries and to advance binational cooperation.

Fins do Lago presented Credentials on May 30, 2022 to President Nicolás Maduro; and in 2024 to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Secretariat of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, which accredit him as a concurrent ambassador, with residence in Caracas.
