The Deputy Minister for Europe and North America of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Oliver Blanco, is on an official visit to the Portuguese Republic, with the purpose of strengthening ties of friendship, strengthening bilateral relations and continuing to advance on the path of peace and democracy.
“We are grateful for the reception of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel, to whom we reaffirm Venezuela's commitment to dialogue, cooperation and the construction of a shared agenda for the benefit of our countries,” the Venezuelan diplomat reported on his social networks.
Both diplomatic representatives expressed satisfaction with the resumption of TAP Portugal flights on April 3 and expressed interest in increasing the trade balance between the two countries, taking into account that in 2025 total exports stood at 15,645,836 USD and total imports were 12,214,677 USD, in items such as mango, frozen octopus, waste and smelting waste.
During the visit, Deputy Minister Blanco held a meeting with the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, Emídio Sousa, who was recently in Venezuela and met with Foreign Minister Yván Gil.
As part of the conversation in Lisbon, key issues were followed up to strengthen bilateral cooperation and advance concrete initiatives for the benefit of compatriots.
In addition, Blanco greeted and exchanged ideas with members of the Venezuelan community present at the diplomatic and consular headquarters in Lisbon. It is estimated that around 27,000 Venezuelan citizens reside in Portugal, who go to consular offices to carry out their passport, apostilles and permits, among others.
