The ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Congo, Laura Evangelia Suárez, held a meeting with the Minister of Preschool, Primary, Secondary and Literacy Education of this African country, Jean Luc Mouthou, in which they discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in this area and the activities to be developed together.

During the meeting, the parties analyzed the potential for cooperation, including the implementation of programs similar to the Robinson Mission to overcome illiteracy in the Congo, and the organization of Spanish language competitions, taking into account the teaching of the language by several schools.

In the same way, they discussed the cleaning campaign being carried out by the Embassy in conjunction with the Congolese authorities, pointing out the need to raise awareness in society from an early age.

Ambassador Suárez recalled Venezuela's excellent experience with the implementation of the “Sponsor a School in Africa” program, through which many educational establishments in the continent, including the Congo, were helped, stating that, with the same objective of helping and involving schools, a joint campaign should be implemented to raise environmental awareness, the Spanish language and the strengthening of the teaching and use of the Lingala language at the preschool, primary and secondary levels.

For his part, the Congolese Minister expressed his interest in learning in detail about Venezuela's experience with the Robinson Mission, as well as expressed his willingness to develop a joint environmental awareness campaign with the Embassy, as well as the Spanish language exams in schools that teach the language and to work on a proposal to return the lingala to schools, stressing that it is an idea that has been debated in recent times.
