The Deputy Minister for Europe of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Coromoto Godoy Calderón, held a meeting this Tuesday, August 27, with the chargé d'affaires of the Russian Federation in Venezuela, Eduard Sokolov, to discuss the next BRICS+ Summit.

The meeting took place in the Hall of Ambassadors of the “Antonio José de Sucre” Yellow House, in Caracas, the Foreign Ministry of the Republic reported, on its account on the social network Telegram.

During the meeting, Venezuela's expectations for the next BRICS+ Summit to be held in Kazan, Russia, were discussed.

Venezuela's participation in this event comes after the invitation extended by Vladimir Putin to the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros.

The diplomats reviewed the current state of the cooperation agreements between the two countries, with the objective of strengthening the bilateral strategic alliance.

In addition, they addressed issues of mutual interest, such as the recent cyberattack on the National Electoral Council (CNE), which sought to distort the popular will in the presidential elections.

Venezuela will participate in the summit as an observer country and seeks to consolidate its position within the BRICS+ group to advance its economic and commercial integration with member countries

For his part, the Deputy Minister of Anti-Blockade Policies, William Castillo, participated in the VI International Municipal Forum of the BRICS countries, stated that “Venezuela and Russia are among the five sanctioned and most persecuted nations in the world, both nations have been building a bridge of diplomatic, political, cultural and economic relations, to face these measures.”

During this event, Castillo asserted that Venezuela and Russia have been cooperating to establish economic industry recovery for de-dollarization with BRICS mechanisms.
