The Deputy Minister of Application of Scientific Knowledge of the Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology, Alberto Quintero, led the Venezuelan delegation participating, in Brazil, in the reactivation of the Special Commission on Science and Technology of the Amazon (CECTA), in compliance with the commitments of the Declaration of Belém and the Declaration of Brasilia.

During this meeting, Venezuela was designated as the venue for the installation and first meeting of the Technical-Scientific Intergovernmental Panel on the Amazon (PITCA), a key space for generating scientific reports that will guide public policies on environmental conservation and health of Amazonian peoples, details a press release from the ministerial portfolio.

The Venezuelan delegation presented strategic proposals to transform technical cooperation into cognitive sovereignty and social welfare, strengthening collaborative ties between Amazonian States.

These initiatives include strengthening a regional network of research centers that prioritize open technologies and sovereign biotechnology.
